Info on 710,000 UBook Users Exposed in Data Breach

The personal information of 710,000 UBook users was leaked on a dark web form earlier this month.

According to an announcement on BreachForums, the audiobook and podcast streaming platform UBook was compromised, allowing a threat actor to access personal data of various users.

Alleged compromised data includes email addresses, full names, dates of birth, genders, and profile pictures.

The audiobook platform has not confirmed the incident, and no details of how the breach occurred have been provided.

What should potential victims do?

Scammers and other malicious actors can use the leaked data containing users’ contact information conduct targeted phishing attacks and scams.

Until the hack is confirmed, we advise users to watch out for suspicious correspondence or online activity:

  • Check for any updates via official channels and UBook
  • Reset your password for your UBook account as well as any other account that uses the same login credentials.
  • Scrutinize unrequested messages and emails that require urgent action or request sensitive information
  • Use a security solution to protect against malicious attachments and phishing attempts
  • To steer clear of scammers who may contact you via email or social media, use Bitdefender Scamio
