Bitdefender blocks an application that runs locally

This article will help you find out which Bitdefender module is interfering with the functionality of your application that runs locally, and then add an exception that will restore normal behavior.


 

Step 1

A.      Please disable Ransomware Remediation as described below:

•       Open Bitdefender from your Desktop.

•       Click on Protection from the left panel and turn off Ransomware Remediation by using the ON/OFF button.

•       With the module turned off, please check if your application works.

B.      Should the app work, please re-enable Ransomware Remediation and add an exception for the app. Should it not work, go straight to Step 3:

•       Open Bitdefender from your Desktop.

•       Click on Protection from the left panel, and, on the Ransomware Remediation panel, click on Manage.

•       click on Add an exception, select the app’s executable file and click OK. The rule is created – check again if the app works.

If the app doesn’t work, please let us know and skip the next steps.

Step 2   

A.      Please disable the Advanced Threat Defense module as follows:

•       Open Bitdefender from your Desktop.

•       Click on Protection from the left panel.

•       In the Advanced Threat Defense pane, click Open.

•       Access the Settings tab and disable Advanced Threat Defense by using the ON/OFF switch.

•       With the module turned off, please check if your application works.

B.      Should the app work, please re-enable Advanced Threat Defense and add an exception for the app, should it not work, go straight to Step 3:

•       Open Bitdefender from your Desktop.

•       Click on Protection from the left panel.

•       In the Advanced Threat Defense panel, click Open.

•       Access the Settings tab and click Manage Exceptions.

•       Click the + Add an Exception button, browse to the path of the application, select it and press OK.

•       From the Exceptions Options panel, make sure that Advanced Threat Defense is enabled, then press on Save – check if the app works.

If the app doesn’t work, please let us know and skip the next steps.

 

 

Step  3     

A.      Please disable the Bitdefender Shield as follows:

•       Open Bitdefender from your Desktop.

•       Click on Protection from the left panel.

•       In the Antivirus panel, click Open.

•       Access the Advanced tab, then disable the Bitdefender Shield (for 15 minutes) – check again if the app works with this module disabled.

B.      Should the app work, please re-enable the Bitdefender Shield and add an exception for the app, should it not work, please let us know:

•       Open Bitdefender from your Desktop.

•       Click on Protection from the left panel.

•       In the Antivirus panel, click Open.

•       On the Settings tab press on Manage exceptions.

•       Click on the + Add an Exception button, browse to the path of the application, select it and press OK.

•       From the Exceptions Options panel, make sure that Antivirus is enabled and then press on Save – check if the app works.
